Brian took Tuesday off this week so we could go to Seven Peaks. The boys took turns going with Brian down the "toilet bowl" (I just found out just this week it actually has another name: the vortex). They loved it. Dylan faced backwards and was clinging to Brian like a baby monkey but he said that he loved it. Xander did the rope swing for the first time.
My cousin Lisa Relf was married on Saturday in the SLC Temple. It was really crowded there for a Saturday but she looked like the happiest bride ever. Brian watched the kids at home since Dylan and Sydney were sick. When I came home the house was trashed and Brian told me that the kids snuck food and crush it into the carpet, destroy toys and DVD's, wrote on/destroyed things and were just out of control all while he was trying to take a nap.....hahahaha (he gets no sympathy). Keith and Lisa had a reception in Provo later where they had a "candy bar" where you could fill up bags of candy: gummy bears, swedish fish, M&M's etc. Of coourse, our kids went to town. They would periodically sneak off to the candy bar and sneak more and more handfulls of candy...just in time for bedtime.

Zombies
We went on a walk to the park when Chloe and Victoria were over and it was HOT! The kids were all melting in the heat so I took this pictures of the zombie kids.
Brian was gone this week to Ebay live in Chicago.
Amy, Emily and I took the kids to the animal farm at Thanksgiving point. Xander, Dylan and Sydney rode the ponies. I yelled to Xander to "ride like a cowboy" and he rolled his eyes and pretended not to hear me....te he he. There were new baby bunnies this time, so that was the best part for me. We all had a picnic at the animal farm, then went to Amy's house to let the kids run in the sprinklers.
We got to have Daniel and Natalie's kids over for the day on Thursday while Natalie is at girls camp and Daniel is at a prosecutors convention. Heidi brought her kids over and we got out the blow up pool. I went out to put sunblock on the kids and Kortney asked me "what is sunblock"...ha ha (I bet my kids wish they were born to aunt Heidi). Hayden was obsessed with the Star wars action figures. He really wanted to find this storm trooper's leg missing leg. He ended up finding a droid leg to fit in it's place. I thought it was pretty creative.
We went to seven Peaks a couple times this week and bumped into the Strack's and Hanna and Cody. We had lots of fun in the lazy river going under the water falls. Dylan is quite a little dare devil on the rides. Issac and Kirsten took Dylan down one of the big slides. They wouldn't let Issac at the bottom to catch him so Dylan just sank like a rock until the life guard got him. They asked him if he had fun...of course he did.
I watched Victoria and Chloe Hobson yesterday and today. I had to take all of the kids to church by myself. I sat them all down before sacrament meeting and gave them a little pep talk on reverence. I was a drill Sargent but they were actually really good. I even got a compliment after the closing prayer from the lady behind me. She told me that it was amazing how I handled the kids and that I must have taken my vitamins. That was great, I love that lady.
Brian is home now...yeah! He brought a bunch of little toys for the kids. They love the ebay paraphernalia and toys.
Toys...urgh, blasted toys.... I host our RS presidency meetings at my house and at the last meeting Dylan came down the stairs and interrupted us to ask if I had sent his transformer toy to DI since he didn't pick it up...ha ha
Summer time...the livin's easy
Xander and Dylan are both out of school and it has been really fun so far. We decided to do lots of season passes this year to have non-stop good times. We decided to do Seven-Peaks, Hogle Zoo, Children's Museum, Thanksgiving Point and the Living Planet Aquarium.
We went to VIP showing of the new exhibit "Inventions at Play" at the Children's Museum. We were given "inventor glasses" (the typical coke bottle glasses) at the door. I guess to be an inventor you also need extremely poor eyesight...nice stereotype Children's museum. They had cookies and "smart food" (nuts and raisin trail mix)...our kids only liked the cookies, of course. They had lots of local inventors and some really cool inventions. We were also able to do make kazoo's that were really loud and flatulent sounding. It was a success, the kids loved it! Dylan had a lady follow him and take lots of pictures of him for advertising (he is pretty cute).
We were also invited the next week to the Hogle Zoo's new carousel unveiling for members. The carousel is beautiful but we could not figure out what the deal was with the unusually small bison on the carousel. All of the animals are around the same size except for one little pygmy bison...go figure. Brian bumped into Meadow and Geoff who told him that there are some dinosaurs hidden in the mural on the base of the carousel. I looked for a long time for those dinosaurs and then decided they had just played a cruel joke on us. I got really sick and dizzy after searching for those dinosaurs for about fifteen minutes. Luckily, Brian eventually found some dinosaurs hidden in the mural. We got ice cream, made crafts and saw the elephants so, I would call that a great day!
The kids have ruined yet another car stereo. Some mystery child stuck lots of coins in the car stereo again and it started to make painful screeching noises and then quit working. Now the children request a song and we just have to sing them...we are so ghetto.
We took Chloe Hobson to the Aquarium with us the other day and the whole way up to SLC we decide to have a joke contest. If we liked the joke we would laugh and if we hated the joke we would do a sad trombone noise...wah...wuuuh. Sydney seemed to only know one joke which she loved to repeat over and over again. She would hold her finger up and say "I got one" then she would say "why did the pooping chicken cross the road?.....wah....wuuuuh" (she has been obsessed with this plastic chicken that she got for easter that"poops" gum ball eggs).
Xander just attended art classes with Mary Jane at the red Plum Gallery/frame shop in Orem. Xander loves to draw and is meticulous in drawing little creatures and "experiments". He ended up doing a stormy desert scene with snakes. Dylan also attended the last day but I think he had more fun double dipping the celery in the ranch dressing at lunch.
Brian and I are trying a new incentive program with the kids where they get "Grow bucks" when they finish a chore, brush their teeth etc. It is working like a charm. They get to buy things like action figures from our "store"at FHE. We have started doing FHE on Sundays now since Brian is back in school. It is a miracle that Brian agreed to go back to school so I don't mind...whatever it takes.
We went to a party for Porter and Diana Olsen on Saturday at the Grow's. They are moving to Maryland for Porter's PHD. We are so excited for them but are kicking ourselves for not hanging out with them more this year....bygones. We will try to squeeze in some party time before they leave on the 28th.
Brian is going to Ebay live in Chicago this week and we are going to miss him. We have been working hard on our yard so that we can finish planting our trees and shrubs and installing our fire pit before he leaves. Jordan just finished his fire pit and we had a BBQ at his house. It looks amazing! It makes me really excited for ours.
We had a wonderful fathers day yesterday. We woke Brian up with breakfast in bed and gave him his presents. He got: a dremel, a shop vac, a new drill set, three T-shirts from threadless and a mug that Xander made. We also went to my dad's house for Brinner (breakfast dinner) and I made ligonberry crepes, banana-chocolate chip french toast and a bacon & egg frittata...mmm. Then we went to Grandma Hooge's for a walk and Popsicles. What a fun Fathers day.
